Catch up post

I thought I would have more time to do some things that I wanted to do when I finished with school, but unfortunately, I have found that is not the case, at least not so far. This is one reason why it has been a couple of weeks since I updated the blog. There have been several things I have wanted to post about, but have not had the opportunity, so now that I have some time, I hope to catch up, but I am afraid that I will forget something.

Since I started blogging, I realize that I often think to myself as if I was blogging. Some nights I will go to bed, with a long post in my mind of things that have occurred during the day, but when I find the time to actually post, the thoughts are not always there anymore. Sometimes I wish I could somehow, just think out my blog post every night. Not only would I keep this blog updated more, but I would remember all those things I want to post about. Enough about my ramblings about blogging, lets see if I can back track a few weeks and remember some of the things that I have wanted to post about.

We went on a short trip to SL for my grandma’s funeral. It was very nice. It was good to see all the family again but I was sad we couldn’t stay longer. I was able to see some cousins that I haven’t seen in a very long time. I was happy that even though we were only there a short time, I was able to help with some things for the funeral and I felt more a part of it, instead of being so far away and not being able to provide any help. I somehow took it upon myself, with the help of my sisters, to arrange all the pictures we had found of my grandma for display at the viewing and the funeral. As well as complete a scrapbook we had started for my grandma for her 90th birthday. I really enjoyed looking through all the old pictures and remembering my grandma.

Since we have been home, Mike has started back at school. He is currently preparing for his comps right now and is planning to take them in a couple of weeks. I know he will be glad when they are over, as will I. It has been nice not having to go to school this semester. I graduated over the summer, (don’t think I posted about that). So I am officially finished with school, at least while we are here. I have really enjoyed not having to worry about homework, and even though I am still working part-time, I have been able to enjoy spending more time with Jonathan when I am home. My spare time, that I had so many plans for, as been taken up by preparing for seminary. I am the new seminary teacher in the ward and am really enjoying it. Every morning at 6:30am, the students come over to my home and we study the New Testament. Yes, it takes up a lot of time, but I have never studied the scriptures so intensely, and I am enjoying it so much. I am very inadequate to be teaching the youth about the scriptures, but thankfully the church provides many resources and I am learning so much.

Jonathan is growing so fast, and is slowly becoming a little boy. In the past month, he has started consistently using utensils when he eats, he can communicate pretty well when he wants to, he lets me leave the room before he actually falls asleep at night, and he loves to try to help around the house (he helps fold laundry, empty the dishwasher and mop the floor). There are a few baby things he his still holding on to, such as his binky (we haven’t attempted yet to wean him from that) and his blankie (he never leaves home without it). This past week he had a double ear infection, so that hasn’t been fun, but he is doing much better now. I can’t believe how fast he is growing and learning things.

I know there are several things that I had planned on posting about that I have left out, but this post is very long already so I will end here. Hopefully, I will be able to go back to posting tidbits of our lives with pictures of Jonathan more consistently.
