Talking

Jonathan has been "talking" for a while now. He has his own little language and he knows exactly what he is saying. But more recently he has been saying a lot of real words, and he has started copying what we try to get him to say. I wanted to keep track of all the words he uses and the ones he has said. The words he uses consistently are dada, mama, hot, banana, Pepper and thank you. The words he will say if we ask him to are apple, lion, baby, and will attempt to repeat most words.

Jonathan also signs quite a bit. The signs he knows are dad, mom, more, drink, eat/food, brush teeth, please, work, shoes, come, milk, and dog. I know I am probably leaving some out, but that is all I can think of. He also signs his own signs a lot too. We have Deaf friends and whenever Jonathan sees them, he will just start signing his own little language. He really has had a language explosion recently. It amazes me how fast kids learn this stuff.

Some other cute things Jonathan does is he fold his arms when we pray. We have even caught him "praying" on his own, folding his arms and talking in his own language. He also loves to talk on the phone, but only pretend. He will jabber on the phone and walk around in a circle, but if there is really someone on the other end, he just wants to play with the buttons. He also waves to everyone now. He will look out our front window and wave to the cars going by. He loves to give hugs. He gives other kids hugs all the time and he also loves to hug Pepper, although Pepper is not thrilled about that one.

Jonathan has also gone through a growth spurt, his 12 months pants are finally getting to be too short (he has always had short legs). He has his 15 month dr appt. this week, so we will get to see how much he has grown.
