Recent pics and rambling

Jonathan is getting big. He had his 15 month appt. last week and he is almost 24 lbs and 31.5 inches. He jumped from below 50% for height to 75%. His legs decided to grow some. We knew he had a little growth spurt, when his 12 month pants started looking too short. He loves to reach things that he never could reach before. He is so close to opening up doors, but hasn't figured out how to turn them quite right yet.

Yesterday we took Jonathan to see the fireworks for the first time. We were unsure how he would react, thought maybe he would be scared. When the fireworks first started, he was memorized by them. He just stared and stared, as the show lasted a little longer, he began to realize that it was a show and he started to clap. He loved it. He wasn't even nervous. I can't believe how big my boy is and how many new experiences he has. I love to watch him discover knew things.

Jonathan is talking more and more. He copies almost any word we said. We were showing him pictures of the family and he said "Grandpa". It kind of came out like "Gampa" and another time like "popop". He also says "tak you" for thank you and "hep" for help. Those last two he just started saying regularly. He also will say "amen" at the end of prayer, sometimes during the prayer.


Jonathan loves books he will sit on the floor and as long as you sit on the floor too, he will just look through his books. He doesn't always want to be read to. If you sit with him, he will bring you a book, but not to read to him, but for you to have, then he will get his own book. He also pretends to talk on the phone all the time, and he uses almost any object as a phone. Jonathan has recently discovered the joy of knocking over blocks and is starting to master throwing a ball. He still doesn't understand the concept of catching yet.

Jonathan also finds himself very funny. He will do something silly or say something that neither Mike or I will understand, and then proceed to laugh at himself. It can be hard to get pictures or video of him lately, because he just wants to play with the camera. We have tried to capture some of the cute things that he does on video, but we can never keep him doing it, once the camera is out. That said, we are very behind on sharing video, so hopefully we will get some new videos up soon. I am waiting on Mike to download them from the camera. They may be a little outdated but they will be cute.
